Juarez, Silvia- GT/IT Teacher

Hello My Name Is...

Silvia Juarez-Trujillo

Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Silvia Juarez-Trujillo and I am a Gifted and Talented teacher currently located at Bellaire Elementary inside the Harlandale Independent School District. As a child, I saw my parents struggle with low wage jobs and finances. As a teenager and young adult, I faced the same hardships with my occupations. These experiences taught me the importance of not only receiving a good education, but they helped me realize the value in being a person who can grant to others such an education.

I graduated from the University of Texas A & M in San Antonio/Kingsville where I received my Bachelor degree of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis on Bilingual Education. I am currently studying to complete my Master degree in Educational Administration with Principal Certification.

I embarked on my adventure in teaching seven years ago when I was a student teacher for the San Antonio Independent School District. I then moved on to serve as a professional teacher at a charter school geared towards science and engineering. I soon found my true home at Harlandale where I first served as a Dual Language teacher at Schulze Elementary, educating young children in both English and Spanish curriculum.

I am blessed to have such a rewarding career, where I work with the best crew in the Gifted and Talented program I could ever imagine, and to have my supportive and loving husband Dominic along with my passionately precocious five-year-old son Oliver by my side.

I believe every child has the right to receive the best education possible, regardless of their race, culture or socioeconomic status. That which makes us different from others, makes us special. I feel it is our duty as teachers to not just grant these special young minds with facts but instill in them the training of how to think in new and creative ways that will make their life and our world better. That is why I currently serve as a Gifted and Talented Teacher. Being able to inspire and mold these wonderful young thinkers has become one of the best experiences of my life.
